The Project

A sweeping Cape epic

Dalene Matthee's beloved novel became a richly textured period film set in the forests, farms and coastal villages of the nineteenth-century Cape. The design had to breathe with the landscape — timber homesteads, weathered wagons and the deep, misted green of the Knysna forest.

Chantel's production design balances intimate interiors with vast natural exteriors, creating a world of longing, class and belonging that feels hand-made and lived-in.
